Debate

This debate is geared towards young people, featuring them both as speakers in the debate and as audience members.

The specific topic for debate is:

“This house believes that societal reforms are best delivered through Non Governmental Organisations and pressure groups, not political parties.”

Great interest has been shown for exploring this idea as a result of the recent General Election in the UK, the withdrawal of the UK from the European Union and the current global Coronavirus crisis and its handling within Europe.

This debate is for young adults and secondary school-aged young people since they are the next generation of leaders and change makers.

The event is a debate with up to six speakers who will discuss societal reform from their point view as shaped by their skills, knowledge and experience.

It will be chaired by one of the Trustees of The Paddy Ashdown Forum, Isabelle Parasram, Vice President of the Liberal Democrat Party and Head of a barristers’ chambers, who, in addition to holding teaching qualifications, is a former school governor and trustee of educational charities.

Date: Postponed due to Coronavirus .

Venue: 1 Whitehall Place, London, SW1A 2HE
